My Story
I first fell in love with Spanish in high school. My favorite teacher of all time was my high school Spanish teacher. In college, I minored in Spanish and did a study abroad at Cuauhnahuac Instituto de Lenguas y Cultura in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico where I attended classes while living with a local family. After such an intense immersion program, I found that I had become fluent! I was so excited! Over the years I got busy with life and a career in software and I didn’t keep up my practice the way that I should have. After years of a lull in my studies and letting life get in the way, eventually I found that I struggled to maintain fluency. I also realized that I had shelved the intense passion I once had for such a beautiful language.
In the 2010’s, I sought to regain what I had lost and began an intense journey to reclaim my fluency. In the years that followed, I was acutely determined to not only regain what I had lost, but to go even further and completely master Spanish fluency on a professional level. I worked tirelessly and completely immersed myself in the world of Spanish to meet my goal of mastering fluency—and I continue to do that to this day.
Several years later, I was accepted into the Spanish/English translation program at the University of Arizona. After intensive translation courses in legal, medical, and business translation, I completed the program with high marks and proudly earned my certificate in Spanish/English Translation. Today, I am a professional translator and proud member of the American Translators Association.
In 2022, I began teaching Spanish to private students. Luckily for me, my first student was an enthusiastic and motivated Spanish learner. I found it to be so rewarding! Since then, I expanded to group classes and tutoring and continue to actively teach Spanish and create Intermediate Spanish lessons, activities, and worksheets for Teachers Pay Teachers—something I am extremely passionate about. I also share my love of Spanish through social media with mini-lessons on Facebook and Instagram. I absolutely love what I do!
Thank you for reading my story, and I hope that I can inspire you as well!
