Public Classes, Private Spanish Lessons, and Tutoring

In addition to the classes listed below, I offer Spanish lessons and tutoring for adults, high school/college students, and kids. Whether you’d like to brush up on your Spanish for travel, for work, or to improve your Spanish grades, I’ll work with you to meet your goals by customizing the lessons to your level, experience, and needs. I describe my teaching style as: patient, kind, thoughtful, and enthusiastic.

Mexican Spanish: 8 Weeks of Conversational Verbs

Have a foundation in Spanish and looking to go further?  Dive into some of the most commonly used conversational Spanish verbs!  In this 8-week class, we’ll dedicate each hour to a verb or two and focus on uncovering the many (and powerful!) conversational uses of some of the most versatile Spanish verbs like “llevar”, “tocar”, and “quedar”.  When you grasp multi-use verbs, you gain greater strength and flexibility in your Spanish, sounding more advanced! Each class will also feature cultural facts, Mexican slang, and a fun, casual environment where you can practice your Spanish conversational skills! Taught by Abigail from Español con ánimo.

Spanish Beginner Level I

If you have always wanted to learn Spanish, this 8-week introductory class is for you! Get to know this beautiful language and begin to read, write, and speak Spanish! Each week, we’ll practice understanding the basics, work on pronunciation, play games, learn jokes, hear songs, and discover interesting things about Spanish and Latin American culture. Our last night is a group “dinner” where you will practice ordering food in Spanish and sample a Mexican treat! Prepares students for Beginner Level II.

Spanish Beginner Level II:

This class is for students who already have basic knowledge of Spanish (alphabet, colors, numbers, etc…) or who have taken the Level I class.  In this class, we’ll dive deeper into Spanish and build upon the basics by learning how to ask questions in Spanish, discovering how to conjugate verbs, and becoming familiar with useful phrases as we progress. We’ll continue to have fun learning about Spanish and Latin American culture, playing games, listening to music, and much more!

Spanish Beginner Level III

Grades: 4 – 7
 In this class, students will become capable of using Spanish to confidently communicate with others!  We’ll practice conversing in Spanish and work on constructing sentences using the present and past tenses.  We’ll flex our Spanish muscles through fun group activities, games, music, and cultural lessons! This level 3 class is for students who have already taken the Level II class or have a foundation in Spanish with an understanding of basic verb conjugation.

Spanish Beginner Level IV

In this class, students will continue to work on communicating confidently with others in Spanish! We’ll continue to practice conversing in Spanish, reading Spanish books, and flexing our Spanish muscles through fun group activities, games, music, and cultural lessons! This Level 4 class is for students who have already taken the Level 3 class or who have a foundation in Spanish with an understanding of basic verb conjugation.

Conversational Spanish with Español con ánimo!

Open to all levels, this loosely structured class, provides the opportunity for anyone learning or growing their Spanish to practice listening to and speaking with others in a conversational format. Each week the instructor will provide a discussion topic and handout with new phrases and conversational vocabulary relevant to recent news, travel, culture, holidays, and workplace situations with time for questions, discussion, and conversational practice with other students.

Boosting Your Business or Organization Through Bilingual Content

Interested to learn more about how bilingual content can serve your business or organization? By attending this info session, you will meet a local professional Spanish/English translator and member of the American Translators Association who will explain the benefits of including bilingual content and answer your questions. You’ll learn about the growth of the Spanish-speaking market in the U.S., the benefit of offering bilingual content, how language challenges can impact your business, where AI translation fits in, and how your business or organization can best accommodate the Limited English Proficiency community.
